My first review on 98.7 AMP Radio!

This is the film that I saw on HBO a while back. I had thought that I had already seen it before. Turns out it is completely new! New hijinks! New pranks!

The Yes Men Fix The World is the sequel to the overseas cult classic The Yes Men. The Yes Men are two guys that go around and prank huge ass corporations. This time around, their tricks have gotten them the biggest stage of their lives. An interview with The BBC. They are trying to expose the world to the problems that big ass corporations could fix but end up not doing it because it is against the bottom line. Their major gripe is that Dow chemical doesn't want to help the people of Bhopal because there was a horrible accident that hurt and killed lots of people.

A lot of pranks are classic. You are just going to have to see it this weekend to find out. My favorite is the on they play on the Iraqi contractors. With the huge ass suit that makes them look like brown marshmallows or what I like to call poop.

Move over Pixar, there is another animation studio looking for supremacy! I saw this film because I couldn't get into The Informant! but I think I made the right choice. The animation, while not quite Pixar level is just a tiny step below, the quirky story is also almost to Pixar levels.

One thing I really liked about it was the little asides that came from the television within the film. It was much needed humor with the disaster laden storyline.

Speaking of the storyline, while it does preach the basics of be all you can be no matter what anyone else says that a ton of kids films do, the use of the food and the sardines gave the story a much needed kick in the stomach. The contrasts were there and precise.

I would recommend spending the extra money and going to the 3D show.

I'll be honest. I didn't love Jennifer's Body as much as I did Juno. There were parts that just didn't work and parts that worked really well. If there was one thing that probably was overdone, it was the editing. There was a bit too much emotional manipulation through music, too much slow motion, and too many scenes involving the statue technique rather then allowing the scene to work on it's own momentum.

But even with all of that, it was still pretty fun with exceptionally witty and funny dialogue that can only come from Diablo Cody. I would recommend some patience with this one if you are going to see it in theatres but it is worth. I would almost say that the end credits are the best part.

I had no idea such a little theatre could host such a big event! I had just visited it to see Jennifer's Body on Friday. Anyways, the little theatre was packed. People were shaking hands and handing out healthcare bumper stickers and posters.It was quite a sight to see.

The film itself was probably Moore's most adult and most hard hitting film to date. No one was above reproach. Not even Sen. Chris Dodd. I was very surprised. For all the previous talk with Farehenhiet 9/11 that Moore was biased, that talk got blew out of the water.

A few things stuck out to me. The stories from the real people in the sticks were really strong. They were very real. Also, the stories of redemption were almost just as good. The film has a nice balance of picking you up after showing you the worst.

I hope it does really well since ironically, I am gambling on the hollywood stock exchange for it to do well and going all in.

So I saw this documentary called Finishing Heaven and realized that there are two ways I could interpret this film. Unfortunately, this film doesn't exist anywhere outside of HBO, as there hasn't been any pictures or trailers posted for it. It's about this dude who made a film a long long time ago, but he didn't finish it. So, this documentary was to showcase his trek to finally finish the film!

INTERPRETATION 1

Coming off of the unfunny, god-awful, tone-deaf, mis-advertised, train wreck of a train wreck Ninja Vengeance, it was kind of sad to see someone being unable to finish their handiwork because, well it at least deserved a chance to be seen.

The filmmaker introduced the director/producer, who ended up being quite an interesting guy. He dated? married? the lead actress from the unfinished film, Heaven, and she was the one who wanted him to take the last steps and finish the film. A lot of it was spent in nostalgia. Of the good ole days and what could have been. The director works now as a cruise ship greeter. His girlfriend lady is also featured. One thing I remember was that wherever she worked, she had to be the star. They showed some old footage from her off-off-off-off-off-off-off Broadway shows. They were most definitely interesting subjects. Also they featured the technology differences and how the director used to carry a whole trolley worth of film when they were transporting it overseas but now it fits in two cans! Also he edited it on one of the CPUs looked like one of the ones that I saw at MPI.

SPOILERS! INTERPRETATION 2

Maybe the title was a joke. It's called  Finishing Heaven. At the end of the film (haha) the subject's film was not finished. So I just spent an hour and ten minutes of my life listening to some crazy guy who is too much of a megalomaniac to be able to get his own film finished? Even worse then that, the guy fights over the tiniest little things! Like they were recording new voice-over narration and he was angry and obtuse because he thought that his girlfriend, the lead actress chick wanted a co-writers credit! He sounded more like an egotistical jerk rather then anyone I would want spend 70 minutes of my life with. And the dude didn't even finish the film! All he has was a "test screening" or something. The people spoke and by their reviews I suspect it is of The Room quality. Be a man! The filmmaker was nearly 40 years old!  I don't think I got my money's worth!

What do you get when you mix the KKK + Ninjas + 1980s = The most tone deaf film EVER made. I think it might be worse then the The Room! Check it out on Demand!
